In terms of quantity, stone and earth raw materials are the most frequently mined raw materials in Saxony and are indispensable mineral resources as aggregates for asphalt and concrete in road, rail and civil engineering construction.

With the “Open Quarry Days” in the local quarries of the stone and earth industry, the GEOPARK aims to promote awareness of raw materials in line with the New Saxon Raw Materials Strategy. Through targeted knowledge and practice transfer and effective public presentation, raw materials are available to “touch”.
