Right on the doorstep of the GEOPARK, the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, a university rich in tradition and resources, offers numerous degree programmes in 5 different faculties.

TU Dresden offers degree programmes in 17 different faculties. The Faculty of Environmental Sciences with its Forest, Geo and Hydrosciences departments is located inTharandt in the centre of the GEOPARK.

The HIF at the Freiberg site is part of the Helmholtz Centre in Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and focuses specifically on research issues relating to resource technology. HIF and HZDR offer school pupils at both sites the opportunity to take part in work placements and to write specialist papers. For students, there are also extended offers for topics relating to Bachelor's/Master's/Diploma theses, compulsory internships or assistant positions.
